For twenty-five years I was a primary school teacher. Every school holiday, my husband Peter and I drove to Kings Beach, and every time that ocean air hit, something in me exhaled.

Eight years ago, a boutique became available here on the Sunshine Coast. My husband Peter looked at me across the kitchen table and didn't say a word. He didn't have to.

I handed in my notice. We moved. And that same year, I opened the door to Margaret's Kings Beach for the very first time.

Now I'm sixty-seven, and it's time to retire. Not because something went wrong. Because something went beautifully right, and I'm wise enough to know when a story has reached its ending.
